Jagannath Sanctuary To Uphold A Clothing standard For Lovers From January 1

Puri: The twelfth century Jagannath sanctuary in Puri will uphold a clothing regulation for fans from January 1, an authority said on Monday. The choice was taken at the ‘Niti’ sub-board meeting after a couple of individuals were tracked down in the sanctuary in “foul” dresses, he said.

“It is our obligation to keep up with the respect and holiness of the sanctuary. Sadly, certain individuals have been tracked down visiting the sanctuary without thinking often about the strict opinions of others,” said Shree Jagannath Sanctuary Organization boss Ranjan Kumar Das.

“Certain individuals were found in the sanctuary wearing torn pants, sleeveless dresses and half-pants, as though they were walking around the ocean side or a recreation area. The sanctuary is the residence of God, not a spot for diversion,” he said.
