India’s Class 10 Dropout Rate At 21%, Odisha, Bihar Worst Hit

New Delhi: The dropout rate for Class 10 in the country as of the scholastic year 2021-22 was 20.6 percent, with Odisha recording the most noteworthy rate, trailed by Bihar, as expressed by Association Schooling Priest Dharmendra Pradhan in his reaction to an inquiry in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

The instruction service introduced state-wise dropout rates for Class 10 throughout recent years (2018-19 to 2021-22). Notwithstanding Odisha and Bihar, states like Meghalaya, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, and Telangana revealed high dropout rates.

Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Manipur (no dropouts), Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi were among the states with dropout rates under 10%. Throughout recent years, Assam has shown improvement, with its dropout rate tumbling from 44% to 28.3 percent, though Odisha has had a descending pattern, with its dropout rate increasing from 12.8 percent to 49.9 percent in a similar time period.
