Forest dept in Odisha to plant 19 lakh palm trees

Sources said the drive will be completed at 4,479 informed timberland blocks spread north of 39,671 sq km of limit lines across all regional and natural life divisions.

 

BHUBANESWAR: The Woods, Climate and Environmental Change office will establish 19 lakh palm trees to check lightning strikes and resultant fatalties in the state.A choice in such manner was taken during a gathering of divisional woodland officials (DFOs). “Since palm tree has been viewed as a decent regular lightning arrester, the public authority has chosen to establish it in an enormous scope,” said PCCF and HoFF Debidutta Biswal.

 

He said the estate work out, as concluded by the division, will be taken from the very start of next storm in 2024. The trees will be established in all woods blocks of the state for which Rs 7.6 crore will be given by the Odisha State Debacle The executives Authority (OSDMA).

Aside from controling lightning passings, woods authorities said the drive will likewise assist in producing with foddering for wild creatures, particularly elephants in the forests.Forest authorities said the Farming division will likewise do manor of palm trees in weak towns.
